WANA (Feb 12) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed the country’s commitment to fostering strong neighborly ties, emphasizing Iran’s desire to expand relations with Turkmenistan in various fields.

 

Pezeshkian made these remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov. He stressed that Iran has always sought to enhance cooperation with its friendly and kin nation, Turkmenistan, and welcomes collaboration in multiple sectors.

 

Expanding Cooperation and Overcoming Obstacles

Referring to his recent phone conversation with Turkmenistan’s National Leader, Pezeshkian stated that he has instructed relevant officials to explore new areas of cooperation and remove obstacles hindering joint projects.

 

He also highlighted the upcoming Caspian Sea Littoral States’ Prime Ministers’ Summit in Tehran, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to strengthening regional ties based on peace, friendship, and good neighborliness. The summit will focus on practical solutions for enhancing cooperation among the Caspian states.

 

Turkmenistan Calls for Broader Collaboration

During the meeting, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister conveyed warm greetings from his country’s National Leader and President to Pezeshkian. He underscored the importance of joint agreements and projects between Iranian and Turkmen companies, particularly in transportation and energy.

 

Meredov expressed hope that the Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission would further boost economic ties. He stressed that bilateral relations hold great significance for the Turkmen government and called for expanded cooperation in all areas.

 

Invitation for Pezeshkian to Visit Turkmenistan

The Turkmen foreign minister also invited Pezeshkian to attend the International Conference on Peace and Trust in Turkmenistan. In return, he announced that Turkmenistan would send a high-ranking delegation to the upcoming Caspian summit in Tehran.
